2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Comparison
If you're searching for a versatile and sporty SUV in Pittsburgh, you'll love the new 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan at Sendell Volkswagen in Greenburg. It's the ideal SUV for active families who need lots of space backed by a powerful engine, a luxurious interior, and the latest technology. Take a look at how this new compact SUV from Volkswagen compares to four competitors in its class-Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, and Mazda CX-5-and discover why you'll want to buy the new Tiguan.
Performance
The new compact 2022 Tiguan SUV has a turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine under the hood creating 184 horsepower. Like the VW Tiguan, the RAV4, CR-V, Escape, and CX-5 models come standard-equipped with a front-wheel drivetrain riding on 19-inch all-season tires. The Tiguan isn't as fast as its rivals. Still, the engine's 221 pound-feet of torque and efficient transmission gives drivers the extra power and more responsive acceleration off the line for a competitive edge to tackle tough terrain.
The Tiguan and CX-5 have 15.3-gallon fuel tanks, slightly larger than the other models, and get a combined 26 mpg fuel economy that can drive up to 459 miles on a full tank compared to 30 mpg in the RAV4, CR-V, and Escape. The Tiguan has a max towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, matched by the RAV4 and CR-V, while the Escape and CX-5 can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Features
Although each of these SUVs has multiple trim levels available, the new Volkswagen Tiguan comes with the most interior features and amenities with the base-level trim than its Toyota, Honda, Ford, and Mazda competitors. For starters, the new Tiguan has three rows of seats offering plenty of space for up to seven passengers, while the RAV4, CR-V, Escape, and CX-5 have a five-passenger maximum capacity. The third row in the Tiguan makes the starting cargo space size smaller than the other models, but with the versatile split-folding second and third rows, the maximum storage space can expand to over 65 cubic feet. The model with the most cargo storage is the CR-V, but it also carries fewer passengers.
You'll enjoy power-adjustable bucket-style passenger and driver seats with adjustable lumbar support in all these models. Yet, with the Tiguan, the front passenger also has adjustable lumbar support. All three rows have self-appointed cup holders and personal storage pockets in the doors and seatbacks. Additional features you'll get with the Tiguan as standard include heated front seats, rear-seat air vents, roof rails, and heated windshield washer-jet nozzles.
Technology and Safety
The new VW Tiguan includes more entertainment and convenience technology components, including keyless entry and pushbutton start, Bluetooth connectivity with smartphone integration, a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen display, VW Car-Net connected services with a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless device charging pad.
You'll enjoy the convenience of a powered liftgate, navigation system, and Adaptive Cruise Control standard equipment. There's also a leather-wrapped, heated, adjustable steering wheel with built-in buttons for distraction-free music and call controls.
